The grounds are gently sloping with scented Frangipani Trees, Palms, flowers and tropical Fruit Trees surrounding the Main House, Guest House, Watchman’s house and thatched structure. The perimeters of the property have been left “wild” to serve as “Green Zones”. There is plenty of room for new construction if desired.

All rooms have access to the 2 large 64×10 decks, one below, one above, facing the river and 250’ waterfall and surrounded by mature tropical gardens.
The Guesthouse is 850 sq. feet, with poured concrete kitchenette, bedroom, lovely porch, large bath and sits by a gurgling creek and thickets of bamboo, palms and tropical flowers. There is also a charming 16X12 screened in thatched roof structure by the river that can be used as a yoga/massage space, out door dining or another guest bedroom.
We built a large river stone spiral outdoor shower under the grand mango tree. We wanted to be green so we also built a state of the art composting toilet, tucked into the coffee grove by the river. (these as well as the 4 conventional indoors showers and bathrooms on the property)

Our water comes from a pristine mountain spring high in the forest, the sweetest, cleanest, water anywhere and quite a luxury. We have dammed it and is gravity fed to the property. I have the water tested regularly, and always passes with flying colors. It has perfect clarity, alkalinity, mineral content and absolutely no chemicals or pollutants. We love it and drink gallons of it everyday.
The area is rural and considered the premiere ECO TOURISM area in Honduras, with other expat eco-lodges, B+B’s and small high-end resorts nearby. We have used this property as our home and small yoga retreat center. You can use it as a private residence, Retreat Center, B+B or Eco business.
The Rio Cangrejal is one of the top 4 white water rafting rivers in the world. It is clear and clean and home to otters, fish, water birds year round. We swim every day in the best swimming hole on the river just a few paces from the property. Locally, you can hike some truly epic trails through the rainforest. Waterfalls are everywhere. Canopy Zip lining is very close by, as are tour operators for white water rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, hot springs, the area has many Eco activities.
Check out this article from the Wall Street Journal about our area. Our property is mentioned (Casa Verde)

The friendly Caribbean city of La Ceiba is 7 miles away down a quiet 2 WD dirt road. The city has been officially proclaimed the “Eco-Tourism Capital of Honduras”. La Ceiba is an all amenities town with markets, banks, International airport, restaurants, hardware stores, movie theatres, casinos, a golf course …any thing you should desire. La Ceiba is home to DOLE Fruit Company since 1850’s and is very friendly to expats from many different countries.
You do not need the US govt recommended shots. The is no malaria or dengue in these parts. In our 7 years of living here, neither we or our many hundreds of guests have had any “diseases”, not even digestive issues. In fact, everyone’s health has improved!!
The Property is located many hundreds of miles and many mountains ranges away from the big cities. We have found helpful, generous people. Our rural area is peaceful and safe. Rest assured.
We have an experienced, full time live in watchman/caretaker. He does all the grounds keeping and helps with house maintenance, as well as watches the property and pets while we are traveling. We hire his wife to help clean the house and guest rooms. Both are responsible, well trained, hardworking and honest. You can keep them on if you like.
Why are we leaving? It has nothing to do with the property or the area. We love both and consider ourselves blessed to have been able to find it, improve it and to have lived here. We have a larger tract of land higher up and more remote in the mountains we want to develop and can not manage both properties. There is so much we will miss, it is truly a magnificent property in a very natural, tranquil area. We worry that we will have “sellers remorse” !
Taxes and cost of living is cheap, food is fresh and inexpensive. Honduras is beautiful fun and friendly. Please check out our “About” page on this blog, you can find the tab top of this page. you will find some specific info about us.
With all the craziness going on in the U.S and the world, makes sense to find your own slice of paradise and live life on your own terms. This is a must sell situation for the most part. If you want a beautiful villa and property for vacation, home, business or investment, at a fantastic price (was appraised at $399k) email, we would be happy to set up a time to show it to you.
Financing with at least 50 % down and short term note may be available. For optimum land security it’s prudent to form a Honduran Corporation and buy the property in the Corp’s name. We are willing to sell our Corp for $2500 (to form your own will be upwards of $4500 plus time and red tape). We can recommend an excellent and trust worthy bi-lingual Honduran Lawyer (Female) to handle the transaction promptly and professionally. Or if you prefer, find your own Lawyer…we only want to help.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
