This is a property of rare quality and beauty, in a natural paradise. It is situated on 2 lush acres, above the banks of the rushing Rio Cangrejal (considered the most beautiful and wild in all of Central America) and bordered by the magnificent 500 mile Pico Bonito National Park and the Nombre de Dios National Park in the Rainforest on Honduras. The views will never change, the forest is forever protected!!

The property is tranquil, private and serene. You are serenaded by beautiful tropical birds and lulled by the gentle constant rush of the river. The evening vespers of crickets sing you into a deep sleep and night blooming flowers fragrance the air.
The climate is perfect, with a mean temperature of 82 degrees.
The grounds are gently sloping with scented Frangipani Trees, Palms, flowers and tropical Fruit Trees surrounding the Main House, Guest House, Watchman’s house and thatched structure. There is plenty of room for new construction if desired.
The Main house is 2048 sq. feet with 11-15ft ceilings, two bedrooms with en suite baths and walk-in closets, large open living area/kitchen with hard wood cabinets, terracotta tiled floor, 6′ foot windows to bring in the forest breeze and views. All rooms have access to the 2 large 64×10 decks, one below, one above, facing the river and 250’ waterfall and surrounded by mature tropical gardens and towering trees.
The Guesthouse is 850 sq. feet, with poured concrete kitchenette, bedroom, lovely porch, large bath and sits by a gurgling creek and thickets of bamboo, palms and tropical flowers. The Watchman’s house is by the front gate and has a country kitchen, bedroom, living room, bath and outdoor shower. There is also a charming 16X12 screened in thatched roof cabana by the river that can be used as a yoga/massage space, out door dining or another guest bedroom. There is plenty of room for extra guest houses if desired.
We built a large river stone spiral outdoor shower under the grand mango tree. We wanted to be green so we also built a state of the art composting toilet, tucked into the coffee grove by the river. (these as well as the 4 conventional indoors showers and bathrooms on the property)
We are willing to negotiate all high quality furnishings, housewares, organic linens, tools, power washer, 2 refrigerators and late model Honda motorcycle at a fair and reasonable price. We have brought much of the household goods/tools/etc in from the states, stuffed into 2 suitcases, little by little over the years. You can benefit from our years of expense and labor.
275 feet above sea level with surrounding mountains reaching upward to 8000+ feet, providing the purest air on the planet, the climate is always cooler and fresher than the Caribbean beaches just 15 minutes away.
Planted with mature fruit trees (grapefruit, coconut, orange, avocado, pineapple, banana, plantain, soursop, sour orange, lime, cashew, nutmeg, lychee, mango, coffee, mangosteen, cacao, noni), your table will always have fresh picked organic fruit. Plenty of room to grow a terrific organic garden…use compost from our composting shed. Black Pepper Vines, Vanilla, Gardenia, Jasmine, Ginger, Orchids scent the air with sweet perfume. Toucans and other tropical birds as well as huge exotic butterflies visit daily.
Our water comes from a pristine mountain spring high in the forest, the sweetest, cleanest, water anywhere and quite a luxury. We have dammed it and is gravity fed to the property. I have the water tested regularly, and always passes with flying colors. It has perfect clarity, alkalinity, mineral content and absolutely no chemicals or pollutants. We love it and drink gallons of it everyday.
The area is rural and considered the premiere ECO TOURISM area in Honduras, with other expat eco-lodges, B+B’s and small high-end resorts nearby. Travelers from all over the world visit our area. We have used this property as our home and small yoga retreat center. We are not selling our business or name but you can use it as a private residence, Retreat Center, B+B or Eco business. With direct one hour flights from the Cayman Islands, our area enjoys a constant flow of well heeled tourists interested in the the lush green adventures Honduras provides.
The Rio Cangrejal is one of the top 4 white water rafting rivers in the world and considered the most beautiful in all of Central America. It is clear and clean and home to otters, fish, water birds year round. We swim every day in the best swimming hole on the river just a few paces from the property. Locally, you can hike some truly epic trails through the rainforest. Waterfalls are everywhere. Canopy Zip lining is very close by, as are tour operators for white water rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, hot springs, the area has many Eco activities.
Check out this article from the Wall Street Journal about our area. Our property is mentioned (Casa Verde)
The friendly Caribbean city of La Ceiba is 7 miles away down a quiet 2 WD dirt road. The city has been officially proclaimed the “Eco-Tourism Capital of Honduras”. La Ceiba is an all amenities town with markets, banks, International airport, restaurants, hardware stores, movie theatres, casinos, a golf course …any thing you should desire. La Ceiba is home to DOLE Fruit Company since 1850’s and is very friendly to expats from many different countries.
You do not need the US govt recommended shots. The is no malaria or dengue in these parts. In our 7 years of living here, neither we or our many hundreds of guests have had any “diseases”, not even digestive issues. In fact, everyone’s health has improved!!
The Property is located many hundreds of miles and many mountains ranges away from the big cities. We have found helpful, generous people. Our rural area is peaceful and safe.
We have an experienced, full time live in watchman/caretaker who has been with us for 7 years. He does all the grounds keeping and helps with house maintenance, as well as watches the property and pets while we are traveling. We hire his wife to help clean the house and guest rooms. Both are responsible, well trained, hardworking and honest. They would love to stay on and would be a great advantage to the new owners, good help is hard to find and trained help is priceless.
Why are we leaving? It has nothing to do with the property or the area. I have elderly parents who now require my regular assistance.
